Politics of bad manners and objective scientific analysis
The most obvious and widespread trait in Eastern Arab political dealings is that they employ emotions more than reason in political observation and analysis. This strategic error in political engagement distances the individual from properly considering facts and their historical development to reach realistic scientific conclusions.
This approach to political events is not merely primitive and reductive but also blinds the reader and concerned observer, inciting hatred, animosity, and enmity among the people and the nation.
We in the East must realize that for decades we have been a ball in the field of international interests, and our national interest cannot be achieved unless we engage in politics with clear insight and scrutiny that allows us to clearly identify who is friend and who is foe!
Politics is far removed from ethics... Politics is primarily about interests... and interests are not isolated from mutual influencing factors and sometimes become complicated, making it difficult for a person governed by 'bad manners' to see the danger threatening national interests.
Not everyone who speaks Arabic is truly Arab, and not everyone who declares themselves nationalist is a guardian of the nation's interest!
In the game of politics, some players deviate unintentionally and others deliberately; therefore, we should not take their words out of their historical context. Idolizing individuals in our East has become a hobby of political actors, causing many, even those who claim to understand the reality, to make grave errors in political assessment. These errors lead ordinary, sincere people, who love their country, either to follow unpatriotic and non-national paths or to reject politics and politicians altogether. In both cases, this leads to slow, deliberate destruction of political forces and the entire nation, which is exactly what the international player who has been meddling in our East for decades aims to achieve.
What is happening and has happened in Syria, and in our broader Middle East, cannot be dealt with emotionally or with bad manners. What is happening is a clear program to drag us into a destructive sectarian war and further fragment an already fragmented region. It distances us from unity so we cannot be key players on the international stage. This chaos within the Arab world does not come only from outside but is also the result of a wide segment of politicians and thinkers among our brothers and within us playing this game to serve their purely personal interests, and idolizing them is the disaster itself.
Screening internal and external players to separate friend from foe is an easy art, despite the complexity of the data, for those who master screening away from the tactics of bad manners, especially since these players manipulate our religious, national, and patriotic emotions day and night. What we must do is study the words and actions of players carefully and over time before classifying them as friend or foe.
After six years of direct meddling in our East by these players, it has become clear to anyone who truly wants to see the truth who is friend and who is foe, without forgetting the fundamental equation in politics: politics is, first and last, about interests, far from emotions and ethics!
The biggest losers from the wars of destruction in our East are our peoples and our families, and political actors must try to minimize losses rather than promote or remain silent about them... This is not a sincere tactic but a deception based on profound ignorance.
It is no longer acceptable for sincere political actors to look through a single hole to see only what is happening in Syria and close their eyes to what is happening in Yemen, Libya, Iraq, and Palestine, the heart and beating soul of the East. We in the East win together and lose together... Beware of selectivity in classifying friend and foe and idolizing those who deserve to be thrown into the dustbin of history.
